Cup Wrap Fit & Application Guide
Getting the Perfect Fit for Your UVDTF Cup Wrap
UVDTF cup wraps are designed to fit snugly around your tumbler — but fit depends on more than just the cup's fluid capacity. This guide walks you through everything you need to know before you apply.
Step 1: Know Your Wrap Size
Wraps in our Fall & Halloween Wraps collection are labeled by the tumbler size they are designed for. We currently carry:
- 16 oz wraps — our most popular size, designed for standard 16 oz tumblers
- 40 oz wraps — designed for large 40 oz tumblers
- 3 oz wraps — designed for mini tumblers
Always match the wrap size to the size printed on your tumbler or listed by its manufacturer — not just the fluid ounces you fill it to.
Step 2: Measure Your Tumbler Before You Apply
Even two cups labeled "16 oz" can differ in height and diameter depending on the brand or manufacturer. Before applying your wrap, take a moment to measure:
- Height: Measure the full height of your cup from base to rim. Cup heights can vary by brand even within the same fluid-oz category.
- Circumference (around the cup): Wrap a flexible measuring tape around the widest point of the body. A 16 oz UVDTF wrap is sized for a specific circumference — if your cup is significantly wider or narrower, the wrap may not close fully or may overlap.
- Taper: Many tumblers are tapered — wider at the top and narrower at the base. A wrap applied too high or too low may not lie flat at the edges.
- Base diameter: The base of your cup should fit comfortably within the bottom edge of the wrap without bunching.
Step 3: Plan Your Placement
Before peeling the liner, dry-fit the wrap on your cup:
- Position the wrap so the top edge sits just below the rim of the cup — typically ¼" to ½" below the top.
- The bottom edge should clear the base ridge of the cup so it doesn't curl under.
- Center the design on the front of the cup and note where the seam will fall (the back is usually best).
- If the wrap doesn't reach all the way around or overlaps noticeably, stop — your cup may be a different size than the wrap is designed for. Contact us before applying.
Step 4: Apply the Wrap
- Clean your cup. Wipe the outside with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely. Oils, fingerprints, or moisture will affect adhesion.
- Peel back a small section of the liner — about 1–2 inches — and align the edge with your planned seam position.
- Smooth as you go. Slowly peel the liner away while pressing the wrap firmly onto the cup with your fingers or a soft squeegee, working from the center outward to push out any air bubbles.
- Wrap around the cup evenly, keeping the top and bottom edges level.
- Press the seam. Press the final edge down firmly. If you see a small lift, apply gentle heat from a hair dryer on a low setting and press again.
- Smooth any bubbles by pressing from the center of the bubble outward toward the nearest edge.
A Note on Manufacturer Height Differences
The same 16 oz label can appear on cups from multiple manufacturers, and heights can vary by up to ½" or more. Our 16 oz wraps are sized for the most common 16 oz tumbler dimensions. If your cup is notably taller or shorter than a standard 16 oz, the wrap may not cover the full height of the cup body — this is a known characteristic of UVDTF wraps, not a defect.
When in doubt, measure first and reach out to us — we're happy to help you find the right size before you order.
